Who are we: The company was formed way back in 1936. Then, the company was made up of a very small group of independent taxi proprietors who decided that it would be a good idea to form a non-profit making Association (co-operative) for the benefit of all the individual owner members. What a great idea, huh! The company, which was mainly to serve the area of Hove, was to be known as "Hove Streamline Radio Taxis" and all the cars had white painted bonnets. In those days we were the first taxi company in the area, and indeed in the South who had the bright idea of introducing the use of taxi radios (witchcraft in those day!)
Very soon after the formation of the company more independent taxi proprietors were invited onto the Association with each new member contributing a joining fee. Each member also contributed to the running cost of the office on a weekly subscription basis and the Association was run by a committee made up from the members who were elected each year, which is the same process today.
From those far off early years Hove Streamline Radio Taxis became what it is known today as STREAMLINE TAXIS 202020 covering the full area of Brighton & Hove (which has recently become a City). The Association of over 160 cabs (& still growing) is now made up of 120 Association members who still run the company with their elected committee members and the remaining number is made up of other licensed taxis and licensed private hire vehicles who also own their own vehicles but are non-members. The fleet is mainly made up of licensed Hackney Carriage vehicles that can be hailed in the street and are easily recognized by their Brighton & Hove licensed taxi livery of white body and Aquamarine painted boot and bonnet.

We can proudly boast that STREAMLINE TAXIS 202020 were the pioneers in the early days of using computers and Data Units for in-car communication in the taxi cabs which we introduced to the South of England in the early 90's. This system has greatly advanced since and we now use the latest Data Units that use GPS (Global Positioning System using satellites) tracking.
